The project is located on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road close to the Green Community, and runs in a north south direction. The full project area is bounded by the Arabian Ranches Interchange to the north and the Truck Road at the Dubai / Abu Dhabi border to the south. The scope of work included the widening of approximately 33km of existing highway. The widening comprises the construction of three new lanes in each direction to form twelve lanes in total, which are separated by a double faced concrete barrier. The overall development of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road was divided into three different Phases, and this particular Phase represents Phase 2a which extends from the existing Al Hoadh R/A at the intersection with Al Yalayis Road (D57) up to the existing roundabout at the intersection with Jebal Ali – Lehbab Road No. E77. The scope of work included upgrading Al Hoadh R/A into a grade separated Interchange as well as the provision of street lighting services to the roadway facilities, crossing ducts for different utilities, and the relocation and / or protection of existing services affected by the proposed highway scheme based on coordination and approval of the respective utility authorities. The work also included landscape and irrigation work.
